HutPingBot

HutPingBot is the program behind HutPing. If you saw it in your server logs, this page is for you.

What it does

It reads the public availability that refuge booking sites show to every visitor, for the refuges and nights our customers have asked us to watch. It never logs in, never books, holds or resells places, and never fills in forms.

How often

About every 15 minutes, one request at a time, with a pause of several seconds between requests. It identifies itself in its User-Agent with a link to this page, follows robots.txt, and pauses automatically if a site tells it to slow down (HTTP 429 or 503).

Who runs it

HutPing, run by a sole trader in Sweden. Email for site owners: bot@hutping.com.

Asking us to slow down or stop

Email us from your site's domain or tell us which site you run. We will slow down or stop reading your site within one working day, no questions asked.
